House Bill #775 and Senate Bill #1146 is the law and during the 2023 Florida Legislative Session both versions PASSED both the Florida House and Senate without opposition. It was proposed by Dr Bernard Wh Jennings a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator after he faced the terrible circumstance of his sons Mother removing him from his private school and moving him out of his home county without the consent or notice to his Father or the Courts. At that time there was no law in place that gave unwed Fathers rights to their child(ren) , even if the fathers name appeared on the child(ren)'s birth certificate. This law changes that. Unwed Fathers who step up and sign an acknowledgement of paternity will no have the same rights as married fathers; the ability to access and have a say in their child(ren)'s medical decisions, educational pursuits, physical, social, financial well being, and spiritual development. Unwed Fathers now have the law to help ensure they can and will have a mutually beneficial relationship with their children.
